The problems I have with this movie

The problems I have with this movie:
1. Not enough blood and gore.
2. Too many cool human characters die too soon.
3. The predators who die died too soon.
4. The first act has a great build up, but fails to deliver a second and third act that measures up to the build up of the first act.
5. The lamest human character is the sole survivor.
6. Not enough alien vs predator action.
7. The teaming up of the predator and the final girl.
8. Overall a disappointment.

Why are you going into freak-out mode?

2. Too many cool human characters die too soon.

yes it feels like that, but had to save time for the following

6. Not enough alien vs predator action.

it deserves an extra 30min to flesh out the human team in the lair

but teaming the girl and Alien was great

Sadly, filmmakers feel the need of showing humans as worthy beings.

I've never seen a movie with aliens and humans where no human get a highlight role.

Here we have 2 strong alien races fighting each other, and humans got there by luck. It was great how fighting the aliens was a real challenge for the predators. But as said they died too quickly and easily. Then the lone survivor ends up teaming with the girl and recognizing her skills.

If I was a predator leader, I'd consider a shame him "needing the help" of a human and would consider his challenge as a failure and his surviving as a cowardice.

Only a dumb human would think the way you do.

reply

No way was he needing help a bad thing, a cowardly thing. It'd be like training a hunting dog or a falcon to do your bidding- ultimately, the hunter still gets the kudos for recognizing and utilizing everything thing that can help him win. Loved this movie!!

Aliens was already on planet earth long ago somewhere ? ....

This film tells Acid blood is not extremely harmful to human
The shell from an alien head could make a defensible shield
Alien queen at the end finally drop in abyss and might one day replace ocean heart in titanic search

reply

Yes the ending does leave an opening for another sequel and why not?

reply

Because this movie sucks that's why not.

It's 2016, there is AVP requiem which is even worse than this and Predators. No AVP 2.

reply

They should not changed how the Alien creature works. The Birthing-Out-Of-The-Chest was done way too fast. And of course the acid blood was downplayed in this one, and it shouldn't.

Other than that I liked it, actually. But of course I agree still with most of your points. Especially to have seen more battle... in fact that flash back thing where the Predators are cornered on top a pyramid and stormed by millions of Aliens was the money shot... that story would have been amazing to watch.

If I may,

I'll add:

#9. The predators look *way* too bulky, short and squat. Here, they're built like NFL Linebackers. I *much* prefer the tall, athletic basketball player/swimmer look that Kevin Peter Hall had. He is still the best, R.I.P.

They fixed this in the sequel and in 2010's "Predators" finally. The tall, sleek athletic swimmer look that was the original Predator.

These Predators looked all wrong. To me, anyways.

I agree with 2 and 5.

I didn't start watching the Alien movies until around a year or two ago and now finally got to this one today. I had avoided it, despite it being on my dvr, for a long time due to seeing directv's ratings showing it as being not very good. But I rate it a 7 and almost an 8 and thought it had a cool story.

Main problem I had is they JUST GOT THROUGH saying they were tricked down there by the predators to use them to produce aliens, and immediately after it they're like "this is their war, we're not involved" or something like that and magically a predator is friendly with one of them.

Plus, yes, the survivor was pretty annoying.

reply

Yes, I find her annoying at times, too. She....OUCH, HEY, OK OK, I'LL STOP!

She gets irritated at me for spending too much time on this board! 😢

What? My turn to clean the kitchen today?

reply

The part where Sebastian claims humans were tricked down there by the heat bloom is pretty silly considering this would've been the very first time in their long history of engaging in this 100 yr ritual that humankind had the ability to detect it.

Also strange were the fossilized sacrificial humans. Sure, long ago when they were still worshipping the predators as deities, you would've found the willing subjects still laying there without signs of resistance, but since the last time it happened was in 1904 to extremely frightened & confused whalers, they would've been bound, & not wearing the ancient jewelry.
