Does anyone else find it awkward..

Lance Henrikson's character name is Charles Bishop Weyland...?? WTF
Is he supposed to be related to the company owners Weyland-Yutani, or does the Alien universe just completely disregard this movie.

reply

Charles Bishop Weyland was the founder of Weyland Industries. I think the timeline is what confuses this. Technically AVP happened long before "Alien". Almost 100 years before Weyland and Yutani merged companies. And I'm guessing the android "Bishop" was clearly made in the founders likeness as a tribute of some sort.

reply

no. Just no. Prometheus essentially retconed that travesty of a character out of the time line.

Peter Weyland founded it. Fox confirms this, Ridley Scott(The bloody creator of alien) confirms this.

reply

Nobody seriously considers the stupid AVP movies canon, but for the purposes of this movie I think the previous poster is on point. Lance Henriksen's character was an obvious reference to the company (or, half of it anyway), the founder of Weyland Industries and the inspiration for the Bishop andr- err, synthetic human.

This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

"I prefer the term artificial person myself..."

I know he's dead so easily forgotten but Alien was written by Dan O'Bannon, and he deserves a co-creator credit.

As a visual director Scott is fine, but as a script writer he is lacking...so I wouldn't take his word as an authority on the cannon of Alien.

ooooooooohhhhhhhhhh

Charles was the founder of the company and the ancestor of Bishop II(who's human) in Alien 3. Sure it's farfetched that they look exactly alike but whatever, I'll buy it.

reply

It's as far-fetched as having the same actors playing different characters WITHIN the same universe in American Horror Story. You just kind of go with it with that series, so I just go with it here as well like you.

Just saw this(again, 3rd time) and noticed Weyland using the knife 'trick' between his fingers like the android did. Catch it?

reply

I just saw this for the first time, it's hard to miss.

It's an ok movie 6/10. Prometheus was 4/10.

I did. Kinda like an easter egg.

reply

this is before Alien (1979) because Yutani merges with Weyland at the end of AVPR.

idk i think the Prometheus timeline falls between the AvP movies and BEFORE the nostromo tragedy.
