The Alien Queen

How long does she live after being pulled under the water? I'm assuming they don't drown and they don't seem to need food. Cold seems to preserve her. Will she be there forever until somehow she gets loose?

reply

Maybe the ocean debt will crush her?

Why not drown?

If they can survive in the vacuum of space (as seen in Aliens), it would seem unlikely that they could drown.

We know it breathes air of similar structure as ours. The alien craft found on LV-426 had such astmosfear simulated around the nested eggs for this reason we must assume, plus we see it breath several times, and so it must be part of how it exists. Now of course it can handle quite a bit like the vacuum of space in Aliens for some time, but surely not indefinitely.

However, I rather think the pressure of our deep oceans would ultimately seal its doom, rather than drowning... Or before drowning. Its hard outer shell is no match for the seven seas :) deep ocean pressure is often explained to be the equivalent of one person trying to support 50 jumbo jets. This would be no park walk for even the baddest of Queens.

I was wondering the same thing about the queen pulled underwater. Since we don't know how deep that part of the water really is it would be matter of time that lady cuts the chain and swim up.

IMO., through the movies we see that they need breathable air of sorts - which kind is likely dependent on which creature they facehug. So in this case it would be oxygen. The movies also shows us that they are pretty bad ass and can handle quite a lot, but not everything. So even if the depth of the ocean was not tremendous where she drops, eventually the lack of air should end her.

And since this movie happens pretty much in our present time and since no sighting of her has ever been mentioned, we must assume she perished. Either by drowning, by the massive pressure of the oceans or likely a combination.

Btw, the average depth around Antartica is 800 meter (deepest is near 7 200 meters) and this is quite steep compared to the average of earth which is only 130 meters. The pressure on 800 meters is equivalent to 1100 PSI... or 1100 pounds per square inch. I would say, this is enough to cause more than a headache :-)

Edit: On the other hand the movies shows us that the Queen has been held captive there in the Pyramid for millennia, and this tells us she can live without food at least and can go into a hibernation-sleep kind of situation. So perhaps she is still down there??? Well, I guess that even when hibernating one need some form of air to keep it going... so still I say; the bitch is dead.

The ocean has a debt? Who does it owe money to?

reply
