Ending??

I'm not very good in figuring out all this symbolism and everything...I would like to know what the end of the movie meant, if anyone knows. Like what did that key thing represent? And the tower? I just don't understand what it all means.

Aside from that, it was an excellent movie and I enjoyed it very much...though I'm left a little bewildered.

Yes...i don´t understand it, too... :)

I think the key was a representing their new understanding of their lives. It was like a key that opens the door to their new life if you know what I mean. Even though it was too late..

I think that he suddenly found a father figure in Torakichi, and that had been his (Michiru's) dream. The key symbolised something which could unlock these realisations (which had been hidden until he hears the van's horn). I imagine he then gives himself up or commits suicide as his 'story' is complete.

reply

Yeah Commiting Suicide was my thoughts too - what else could he do - Hes covered in his brothers blood whilst his brothers body lies nearby in a small apartment where he's surrounded by cops ...Not to mention he's an excaped Prisoner ...

reply

Yeah, he jumped trought the window. When he uses the key on the air like he was opening a door it means that with that suicide he was opening a door to a new life. And the others did also because they meet after death. I mean, the death was the key to their new life.

reply

But not all the others died so meeting after death doesn't make sense. I saw them gathering as a fantasy. I don't claim to understand it mind you, but just death is out since the dwarf started a new life with the girl, and a few others were apprehended.
