anyone watch the interview where he talks bout miike?

anyone see the interview on the dvd where the toyoda talks *beep* about takashi miike? kinda a shame i like miike yea toyodas movies seem a little bit more professional but theres just something bout miike that puts him on the same level if not higher than toyoda. lol it was kinda funny he was being an *beep* to that lady when she was asking him bout japanese traditions and samurai and seppuku, and ESPECIALLY, the last samurai and tom cruise ha! anyway, she said are you jealous of any other directors or do you think you have a rival you try to do better than? and he said no i dont have any strong feelings like that.... but i do feel some people should try to make proper movies........... specifically.........takashi miike.. i think he should try to make a proper movie for once in his life. LMAO miike has had way more success than this dude in terms of making more money, better movies, and getting more recognition overseas although i still respect this director cuz he made some good movies. anyway i thought it was funny, kinda a low blow to miike cuz he works on such a fast schedule. what you miike fans think about that?

I don't know that interview, but maybe when he said "he should try to make a proper movie" he just meant "conventional"?!

Im also a miike fan but I find Toyoda's movie's to be more... uhhh unique and creative.

Although im sure he could have been humble about the whole thing im sure it was something that set off those comments.

The only Miike film I like is Bird People of China. I find his other work to be WAY over the tope and tasteless at times. I find Toyoda to be a lot more crafted as a filmmaker even though he's very young and fairly new at filmmaking. I think 9 Souls is one of the greatest films made in the last 10 years. I wish more people would see it.

It's funny but it's also true. I've seen every Miike film released in America and a few not released here. I count myself as a fan, but he's definitely a hack. Nothing really stands out in his work as particularly interesting, especially compared a lot of his contemporaries (Toyoda, Tsukamoto, Fukui, Kitano, etc). I sense some jealousy amongst other Japanese directors, really, though they have a right to be. Miike has produced some of the worst films ever. It's a good thing he has so many amazing films too. He's just producing so many at such an amazing rate that it's probably bothering all other ambitious Japanese filmmakers who can barely get funding for 1 film.
