Irish producer Tom Weir has confirmed the feature ‘32A’ will begin principal photography on Monday the 24th of July. Writer/Director Marian Quinn takes the helm for the €1.5 million production which will star her brother Aidan Quinn (Song For a Raggy Boy), Jared Harris (Igby Goes Down) and Orla Brady (Proof).

The 5 week shoot will take place around locations in Dublin, Sligo and Roscommon. Shooting on 35mm, Cinematographer PJ Dillon (Dead Long Enough), Costume Designer Driscoll Calder (Stew) and Editor Ben Yeates (Boy Eats Girl) are working on the project.

This is the feature directorial debut for Marian Quinn who has worked in theatre and has appeared in small acting parts in film including ‘Evelyn’ and ‘When the Sky Falls’. Quinn won the IFI’s Tiernan MacBride Screenwriting Award for her ‘32A’ script in 2002. The film is a coming of age story about a 13 year old girl from Dublin. Newcomer Ailish McCarthy has won the starring role with Aidan Quinn playing her father. Louise Kiely and Orla Fitzgerald have cast the film.

‘32A’ is supported by the Irish Film Board, the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland, RTE and German funders MDB and MDM. Tom Weir is producing through his West of Ireland production company Janey Pictures with co-producer Roshanak Behesht Nedjad and James Flynn as executive producer. Beta Flick will handle worldwide sales and a distribution deal has not yet been signed.
