The comic book starting credits

So I watched this film for the first time tonight and I've got to say: the CGI is bad. And here's the thing: I LIKE schlocky sci-fi action movies. For example, I actually like the Matrix sequels. But the bad CGI at the start of the movie (during the motorcycle chase) just completely took me out of the movie. I felt no tension whatsoever.

Now, this brings me to the main point I'm trying to make. I feel like they added the whole "It's from a comic book" montage/credits thing to try to obscure the fact that they just had really bad cgi. Like: "Hey, it's supposed to look bad because it's from a comic book." Except it's not, because there is no comic book. So why are they trying to pass this off as a comic book movie? The only answer I can come up with is because it had crappy CGI and underdeveloped plot/dialogue.

I feel like this movie could have been a really great B-Grade sci-fi action flick if a little more effort had been put into it, but as it's stands... It's just a confusing mess of poor writing and dialogue, confusing action scenes, and bad CGI.

I think the director actually went on the record saying that he wanted the movie to resemble a comic book. So there's that.
