they have to hunt and kill this thing and when the raptors are communicating with it, the humans just sit there with their weapons. come on...which writers thought this would not be picked up as just plain stupid by every jurassic park fan. But put me down as someone who loved it, esp the ending

As Masrani said, millions of dollars were invested in the Indominus Rex they couldn't just simply kill it as that would have been bad for the parks business and future attraction that brings in all the money from visitors and advertisements to begin with. The parks visiting count was decreasing too. They avoided killing it, opting to use non lethal weaponry to begin with. That thing (Indominus Rex) was a walking fortune.

Hoskins had no problem with having the Indominus Rex killed because he was more interested in the potential of the raptors. That's why he said, "What's taking them so long? Light it up!"
@rspear61 Yep, that was ridiculous, having all those laser sights on it and nobody firing. If anything, a trigger-happy soldier should've fired too early, allowing it to escape.
