anyone a plus 30 year old rpg gamer?

I'm 37 years old and have not played D&D for a while but considering getting back into playing it. I've played Wow, and other games.

Thirty-one, married with two kids and a mortgage, and playing for the first time at last. So yeah :)

Just turned 31, been playing D&D since I was 9.

Well i'm 42, and have been roleplaying for 27 years. Mainly AD&D and Traveller. I also enjoy some of the online games like LOTR and EVE.

I`m 31.

I was a solitary geek, and I still am. So I used to 'play' more of the "Fighting Adventure" games, although there was a period in which I met nice folks who were really into GURPS. I never took it very seriously, but it was really fun. I am not very familiar with Dungeons and Dragons (other than that awesome cartoon).

As for videogames, I can't stand the modern stuff. Multiplayer seems to be all the rage and I kinda hate it. Specially those so-called "RPGs" in first-person POV, they don't even have an ending or a plot, it's just quests, hacknslash, level up, join a guild. Nah. I thought about giving a Elder Scrolls a try, as it seemed different and more to my liking, but as you get older... I mean, Wolfenstein, Doom, Heretic, Descent... it's been done to death. And there was no internet, just BBS. Oh yeah... Myst, Phantasmagoria, Loom, Maniac Mansion, Ultima 7 (what a game). "Those were the days." I could go on and on...

Even though I didn't last because it made my eyes and fingers hurt I'm sure I will eventually play Planescape Torment.

Interestingly, I was a very late bloomer to VG RPGs. Secret of Mana (on a rental) was the very first, but at 19 I was starting to get into Chrono Trigger/Cross, FF6-7-9, Suikodens and my favorite, Xenogears. The SNES and the PSX were wonderful for RPGs. But I can't find the time anymore.

Sadly, I don't think Square-Enix has a chance of a comeback unless they release something really special instead of just rehashing old games and spinoffs.

Voice acting, silly plots, games that want you to pay them monthly and stay online all the time. Perhaps I'm old, but I'm out. The future of gaming sucks.

Real life RPGs at our age? Maybe I'm not looking hard enough, but I don't think there are many of us doing that unless you count the folks who participate in historical reenactments which is a way of role playing.

Sorry for the rant. I'm old.

Pen and Paper gamers you mean? We're still around, though I haven't had a DnD session in some time (since about the release of 3.5 edition) I still know a number of people who play the White Wolf games, Vampire Requiem for example (though more people are playing The Masquerade again since the 20th anniversary edition slightly revamped the rules and was re-released). I've also had some fun playing "Midnight" though it seems sadly to have gone out of print, and of course Call of Cthulhu has been a constant staple.

For video game RPG's honestly I would recommend looking into getting a higher end power PC and going that route, the RPG's coming out for consoles just generally seem weaker than the RPG's for the computer, there's exceptions, but the computer seems uniquely built for the RPG gamer where action, sports and such games tend to be better on consoles. Dragon Age Origins, the recent "Shadowrun Returns", Deus Ex Human Revolution and so on all offer great RPG experiences even if not all are classic medieval-brand adventures.
