First Irish horror feature ...

unless you count Far and Away http://imdb.com/title/tt0104231/

Joke shamelesly recycled from this fairly harsh review of Dead Meat http://www.entertainment.ie/cinema/review.asp?numero=3606

This is actually not the first Irish zombie movie. In 1993 the ultra low budget "Zombie Genocide" was filmed in Northern Ireland. This claims to be Ireland's first zombie movie. I've never been able to see it as the only dvd's for sale are in PAL format and I don't own a compatible dvd player.

Here is the website with more info on the movie:

Zombie Genocide is a no-budget zombie flick made in Northern Ireland back in 1993. Check out www.midnightpictures.co.uk.

Yes I Zombie Genocide up, it seems to be UK funded and even if it was Irish funded it's only 65 minutes long meaning its not feature lenght which has to be over 70 minutes long i think. I got anal but damnit i'm right Dead Meat is the first.

Im no expert on what it takes to be a feature, but according to IMDB;

Feature Film
AKA: Feature
A movie at least 40-45 minutes (2 reels) long intended for theatrical release. Contrast with short subject.

reply

Oh okay maybe its a feature but i'm pretty sure its a British film.

What about RAWHEAD REX? Isn't that an Irish horror feature? That came out in the 1980's.
