Cruise's last decent movie?

?

reply

Collateral is one of the very few films that Tom Cruise has made that I like.

Others include: Mission Impossible (the first one), Eyes Wide Shut, Vanilla Sky, and I'd include Risky Business.

The fact that his latest film, Top Gun: Maverick, is doing so well is a mystery to me. It's a carbon copy of the first Top Gun film save for the much improved aerial footage.

It's the "Force Awakens" of his filmography in others words.

People love seeing the same thing over and over again.

No love for Edge of Tomorrow?

reply

Oh, he's made other films that I think are decent and reasonably enjoyable. Edge of Tomorrow would be one of them. The films I listed in my previous post are in a special class alongside some of my all time favorite films. Just saying "he made the cut" with the five I listed.

As for performances, I was quite impressed with Cruise in Magnolia.

Born On The Fourth Of July?

reply

Yes, that was a good film too. I wasn't saying that the only good films Cruise has made are the ones I listed, just my own personal favorites.

reply

The only movies where I liked his performance were Collateral, Born On The Fourth Of July, Risky Business, Tropic Thunder, and Magnolia.

No hes had some really good bangers since

This is as good a place to draw the line as any. This is pretty much where Tom stops his gritty character work before becoming a blockbuster star.

I honestly saw this movie only once, when it came out. I remember it being an ok movie, but nothing pulled me to seeing it again, even 20 years later and it constantly running on cable.

And, as I wrote this, I came to realize that that is the case with all of Cruise's movies.

no cruise's last good film would be valkyrie

this film is medicore. jamie foxx and mark ruffalo are shit actor and they ruin film. i would be better if they choose actor who can act. cruise cannot carry film on own.
