Opening scenes

Was that Louie DePalma (Danny DeVito) at the taxi company?

Also, was that Jason Statham character from another movie? If so, that's awesome lol.

Nay on DeVito. How strangely random would that have been.

As for Jason Statham, a number of viewers are convinced that he did indeed play Frank Martin from The Transporter in this film. However, while to some Statham’s cameo was merely a nod to his character from the first Transporter, others aren’t at all convinced that Michael Mann intended to pay homage to a character from a b-grade action movie that came out 2 years earlier. But many have certainly been wondering about this ever since Collateral came out, and rightfully so.

Regardless, Mann has neither confirmed nor denied that Statham's role in Collateral is anything more than just a nod to his Transporter character (if it’s even a nod at all, though it’s hard not to link a connection). I guess it’s up to the viewer to decide. I, for one, like to think that there was more to Statham’s brief appearance.

In the IMDB credits he is just listed as airport man, so I see no link to the Transporter character.

I still think it's awesome whether you believe it was Frank Martin or not. We find out that Vincent is the type of guy who is talkative to people whom he meets or become involved with his job. I think the only time he wasn't was when Max didn't hear him when he was hailed for a ride by Vincent. It's not a typical role for Tom Cruise.

If he was listed as Frank Martin in the credits, then Mann would prolly have to pay royalties or something.

soooo.... wasn't his character part of the setup? They switched cases. IE Statham does the drop for the info to Vincent. He;s a bad guy connection. At least that is what I saw.
