I love how every moron

keeps b*tching about how Infernal Affairs II copied Godfather, when ALL they could find are a few similarities are parallels.

Meanwhile, after the Departed basically took EVERY single plotline and twist and death from Infernal Affairs I, and made a turd of a movie, everyone just licks Martin's ass without ever paying homage to IA.

Don't you just love complete hypocrisy by morons who have no idea what they're talking about?

The Departed was supposed to be a remake. IA2 wasn't.

IA2 is still awesome, a few similarities, but not very akin to The Godfather on the whole.

reply

Yeah *beep* everybody who keeps putting down IA2 because of the few Godfather similarities. Every gangster movies steal ideas from other movies. Never are they 100% original.

IA was much better then departed

reply

IA was much better than the departed, but I didn't like IA2. & TGF didn't rip off any other gangster movie, the reason it's a classic is bec it's style was so original for its genre that films have copied or referenced it ever since.

"Good designers copy, great designers steal."

What was stupid about his comment. It's basically true if you're talking about the American media/critics/Academy etc. The Oscars are a joke and the Departed should not have won best picture that year. They just serve to boost the movie industries income. Basically any relatively good movie from Scorsese that year was going to win best picture that year, out of pity of course. I think Scorsese is a great film maker but the Departed is a stain on Infernal Affairs. It took a great movie and ultimately turned it into a random mess. At least the Departed had some damn good acting.

@Bioparadoxous : I just wonder , what kind of imbecile you are , for babbling so much *beep* about yourself , being much more intelligent than any1 else , and just defending Scorsese as if he´s your lover , but not talking about the facts .
Sure Scorsese have great works , but we´re talking about his last production , which really is a poor remake of IA . They gave him an Oscar , only cause it was due , not for that piece of *beep* he dumbed out .

I´m really sorry for your mom & dad and all the other ones around You , who have to bear with You !

Actually, Departed did take a couple elements and themes from the IA 2 and 3 so I would say Departed is a remake of the entire IA trilogy. And yes, IA is better than Departed.

well ahha if you think its funny how people think ia2 rip off the godfather, you should look into the ripping off of faceoff/donnie brasco by IA1. ahahha its hilarious they didnt even PAY for it ahaha

reply

@PieOhmy

well ahha if u think its hilarious how IA1 ripped off face0ff/donnie brasco (which wasnt much really), u should look into how Departed was basically a scene-by-scene copy of IA1 (with some ideas also taken from IA2)...the only thing Departed added was a whole lot of unnecessary abuse ..

& the biggest butt of all jokes is that while IA1 wasnt even nominated for best foreign film, The Departed went on to win Best film....i can understand Scorcese winning Best Director (as a homage), but Best Film ?!...even more shocking , Best Screenplay ??!!, there was nothing new in the screenplay (yah the only thing "new" was a record no. of "f" words)...

i know its supposed to be a remake but even remakes don't do a scene-by-scene copy....check out Invasion of the Body Snatchers (now thats a proper remake; it takes inspiration from the original but maintains its own originality)

I get disgusted by this Hollywood hypocrisy...they constantly bitch about other films taking ideas from theirs but can't accept the criticism when they copy from others...& our "beloved" oscars end up awarding the carbon copy instead of the original...as if they were trying to encourage such Hollywood hypocrisy

Clearly IA1 is much better than Departed. Clearly Departed won its honours based on the fact that Scorcese was due a win rather than it being a worthy film. Much like Paul Newman won for Color of Money.
The IA series might take some ideas from elsewhere, just as most works of art in any medium are inspired by other things - who cares? The final, important point is that the finished product is GOOD. The IA series is great, The Departed is alright. Scorcese is great at his best. The Departed was miles away from his best. Equally, it's about time that some people learned to respect other points of view rather than descending to infantile insults because somebody doesn't agree with them!
