The five elements in the movie

anyone notice each death scene in the purging of the five bosses is related with one of the five elements- fire, water, air, earth and gold? i won't reveal it here but next time u watch it keep this in mind.

reply

I get the fire, water, air and earth one's.
What about the gold?

reply

Gold is an element like fire, air, water and earth?

To answer your question paharan, if it is gold, then it was the foiled attempt to assassinate Sam.

If I remember correctly the scene in which stabbed his assassin had a table full of food, which correlates to wealth.

reply

I didn't even notice it until I watched it the third time. I thought it was very smart how they incorporated the five elements into the assassinations.
To Pharan: The knife used to finish off the Thai host at the temple was consider gold. In Chinese, metal objects are considered to be under the element of gold.

the golden temples in the background

IDK about the gold bit (metals are usually considered part of the earth element, not a separate category) but Mary's attempted murder ruins the whole theme. (Unless "sofa" is another element.) Granted, she was the boss's wife not a full boss herself, but Ngai knew she was more responsible for Kwun's death than any of the others. And they didn't even try to kill her the same way as her husband.

Okay, I get the fire(burning), air(strangling), and earth(burying), but where's the water and gold?
