Sixteen Candles / Sleepover

Sorry if this has already been posted, but can anyone else besides me see how this "Sleepover" movie can relate to "Sixteen Candles"?

I mean, there is no sleepover in Sixteen Candles, but there are a lot of similar subjects or whatever.

the Nerds
the nerd getting together with the popular guy's girlfriend

the list just goes on.

i believe the term is "teen flick" and a million other titles and nick names...don't get me wrong, i like the genre of teen flicks...but thats what its called
