apparently he plays a police officer. maybe they needed a proper authority figure in this movie. and he had to pay the mortgage.

Jeff Garlin and Steve Carell are fantastic but both clearly made a poor, poor choice.

The three adults in this movie, have not become household names yet. At this point they were pretty much still unknown.

In hindsight, Jeff Garlin's role in this movie kind of feels like a precursor to his grumpy dad role on The Goldbergs.

Steve Carell hadn't become a star at the point this movie was made. Neither had Jane Lynch.
