I am really surprised about this movie, I dont know why I decided to rent this but I certainly dont regret it.

That's not true. I'm from macedonia and i think we have potential. And the world doesn't revolve around America ok? If he was born in the US he would have been a junkee. One's destiny is not changed by the place that he's born in. He would have been miserable even if he was born in the US. The US is not that great as you say.
And stop saying bad things about a country that u didn't even knew it existed 5 or 6 years ago. Ok? I can say the US is worse than macedonia (which is true) but i won't cause i've never been to the US and I won't judge it. U shouldn't judge my country too. Think about it. The US may be the richest and most powerfull country on earth. But how many Americans die in Irak? And no one cares. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. When a Macedonian is killed people here ACTUALY care. That's what we do. Look out for each other. But you on the other hand kill each other. And i have lots of things to say about the US but this isn't the time nor the place. Third, Macedonia clamed it’s independence in 1991. How did you figure out that it’s older then US???
Fourth, in Macedonia there are: Albanians, Gypsies, Serbs, Bulgarians, Greeks, Vlachs, Turks, of course Macedonians, Jews, but no it’s not just Macedonians.

Macedonia may have claimed independence from the Yugoslav federation in 1991 but is over 3000 years old as an ethnic and/or geographic entity.

You misunderstood. He wasn't saying the real-life kid would have been on the cover of magazines, but the actor Marko Kovacevic who performed beautifully (and is rather beautiful as well). Having said that, the original post is somewhat Amerocentric, implying that one can only "shine" if recognized by the US media.

And I'm not writing in Macedonian because I want everyone to understand me (though you would probably say it's because i'm a traitor?). The man made a comment about the high quality of the movie, and that it's shame that the kid most likely won't get the same chances he would've gotten in a highly developed film industry. Whether that's true or not is to an extent debatable (though i would say that it is true), and all the rest you wrote about indians and immigrants is idiotic and besides the point.
Macedonia is older than America and that's what makes it better? The oldest civilizations were on the territory of what is now Iraq, and i guess that makes Iraq the best place in the world according to you. You suck seriously. I think this movie depicts how much alike our two cultures are. America has many urban/downtrodden areas (especially these days). The mom's spirit is broken, the dad's drowning his woes, the sister takes it out on Marko, He's bullied because he's different and isolated. The one man (teacher) who has given Marko hope lets him down. He becomes broken down, loses hope, acts out and is lost. The community/country loses a jewel, something that could have been good. How many jewels have we lost here in America to similar circumstances? It's all very sad.
I'm glad to have finally seen this great movie. I don't think I will want to see it again

It is a GREAT movie. I saw it last night and its last scene is still making me wonder about these facets in life. A SUPERB performance by Marko Kovacevic. His facial expressions are amazing, especially if we take into account how he was when the movie started and how he ended.
