You can't have seen many films if this is your idea of the worst film ever. Check out some of the candidates on IMDB's bottom 50 films and you might reconsider!

Alright maybe not the worst but let's be honest....I expected something, specially after i've seen the trailer...i thought it was something between "he others"and "the sixth sense"...that's what the trailer shows

Not the worst ever but a complete and utter failure! Not entertaining in the least!

Does every single movie on IMDB have a topic saying it's the worst movie ever? It certainly appears to be so.

I don't know but if I encounter a movie that has no "worst movie ever" thread, I will add one myself. This wasn't the very worst movie ever, I did not like it though. The legal subplot could have been done way better and one of the characters should have died or maybe thay should have shown the Doctor getting sentenced to 50 years in prison by some fat old white judge. These fairytale endings make me want to puke.

I agree - this movie is pretty bad. I'm a Canadian. This is a Canadian made movie - and only another in a long line of utter rubbish films coming out of Canada. The problem in Canada is that the film industry has all kinds of funding made available to it by the Canadian government. Many Canadian films (such as this one) appear to be made solely for the purpose of providing employment to Canadians working in the film industry (excluding the leading actors in the film). The result is a continued stream of very poorly made Canadian films. If it's Canadian, I won't watch it - much to my regret I thought "this one might be different" - but it wasn't - it lived up to expectations!!! There are, however, a few excellent Canadian films made - such as "Away From Her".

The script of "The Last Door" is terrible (absolutely embarassing - I winced in so many, many places), the cinematography is unimaginative, the acting miserable (especialy Grannie and the son), the situations are ridiculous and improbable, the staging was very awkward and stiffled - the only redeeming feature was the acting of Angela Bassett - a superb actress.

Take my advice - pass on watching most Canadian made films - I do.

As a Canadian I would have agree, it is baffling that a country that does have some great talent (though more with comedic actors), has such a hard time putting it all together to make entertaining and well made films. It is not all about population or money, because both Australia and England have produced MANY more great films on a low budget, and are the birthplace of higher quality dramatic actors. For example, a small country like Australia has produced 5-6 "recent" Oscar winners for best actor/actress or supporting roles, and their own indie films are generally more entertaining and of higher quality. Perhaps being so close and interwined with US culture has created too much of a relience in Canada on American film making.

I can usually tell that a film was made in Canada after watching for less than 10 minutes, they have a certain navel gazing "amateurish quality" and dialogue that is too often lacking substance. A great film starts with a great script and this is where the Canadian film industry really needs to step up.

A Canadian film will have to have a subject matter that I am very interested in, to overlook its technical merits (or lack thereof), and keep me watching much past the opening credits.

i thought it was good

So thought I. And this "ever" seems to me rather stupid. One could write "not a good film", "a bad film", "worst film I have ever seen", but that "ever" provides one has seen all films in the history of cinema.
