What third-world Est European country do you guys think the movie was about? I mean, I know the message is made to fit people from all over the world, but I'm really curious what country she was visiting.
They were pretty careful not to reveal flags, car plates etc, but still some clues, like the traditional clothing worn by the girls at the airport remind me of Romania. But a lot of Eastern European countries have similar traditional clothes so I'm confused.
The country that the diplomat talks about is Croatia, which is located in Balkans (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balkans). The film was partly filmed in Zagreb, which is the capital of Croatia and also the actor that plays the diplomat is a croatian (Rade Serbedzija). While the place that she visits after Croatia, that the journalist (Michael Moore) tells her about it's Bosnia&Herzegovina, which together with Croatia, Slovenia and Kosova was part of the Balkan conflict against Serbia in the 90's.
