Good movie, but..........

Good movie but there was one thing that should have been mentioned. It should have mentioned Joey Ramone's solo album "Don't Worry About Me" which he worked on before he passed away. I thought that was an important event and a great album. Wouldn't you agree?

reply

No, not really.

Looks like a spanner, acts like a spanner ... it's spanner boy

reply

I would tend to agree with you about wishing it was mentioned

I personally loved his solo album. Thought it was borderline brilliant and really showed how talented he truly was.

Can't really complain though other than that, I thought this film was very very well made

reply

yeah i agree.

They mentioned Dee Dee's "rap" album but not Joey's solo project...priorities, priorities...overall it was a great movie tho, after watching I had a real epiphany about punk rock and its roots

reply

The album came out just as the documentary was being produced. It was enough of an effort to get in the Hall of Fame footage. So, I don't blame them for not mentioning Joey's solo album.

"They mentioned Dee Dee's "rap" album but not Joey's solo project"

Dee Dee's rap album was history, A humorous (embarassing?) interlude, I'm sure he would of preffered it was forgotten.

I don't think Joey's album was even done when they were making this movie.

reply

Dee Dee left The Ramones to record the rap cd. Joeys CD was released 5 years after The Ramones broke up. So it wasn't really huge thing to include on a Ramones biography.

What about completely ignoring "Rock 'N Roll HIgh School"??
This movie acts as if the film was never made.
Other than that, it's one of my favorite movies.
It's rare you see Johnny Ramone squirm, but it's here.

There are clips from Rock'n'Roll high school - and it is mentioned quite a bit - however 'bonzo goes to bittburg' was never mentioned which i think should have been given the Ramones early links to far right fans and the fact that this record was a way of saying they want nothing to do with that - Joeys political work was kind of skimmed over - was that because Johnny disagreed with a lot of it?

reply

The movie was better than I expected, seeing the legal hurdles the makers had to jump, over more than a decade, and also considering the people, close to the band, who refused to take part in the movie

reply

yeah i also thought they should have mentioned rock and roll high school more. All I remember is them showing a poster of it and showing the "I want you around" scene. but i'm sure they put in other stuff about it, I just can't recall it. I also agree with zebar-1 that there should have been at least some mention of 'bonzo goes to bitburg.'

reply

What I did not like was the fact that it was said they never sold records?

Rock in Roll High School single was minor hit for them.

They were Huge all over the world.

Everyone in my High school knew who the Ramones were.

Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead

reply

yeah they had 3 top 100 singles thats better than a lot of bands. They also had a few top 50 albums. Most of sonic youth's albums did badly on the charts and they are pretty well known and respected. Then again its not really about how popular you are.

P.S. i found it funny that both bands appeared on the simpsons.

reply

yea i totslly agree how could they mention dee dees rap but not joeys solo
