Is it just me, or does Johnny always come across as a bit nerdy and geeky?
Not to me.

No way. He looked like he could kick my ass every day of the week.

I thought he tried to be tough and cool but was actually a nerdy, right wing control freak.
I read his autobiography, and he comes across opinionated but less confrontatonal than in the movie. He doesn't strike me as having been terribly bright, but very willful, and pragmatic, even if it meant hurting other people's feelings just to see things get done.
