My favorite part

At the funeral, when the "Free bird" catches on fire, descends over the crowd, and the drummer yells, "Keep Playing."

I have many favourite parts of 'Elizabethtown' but 1 of them was the scene were Claire and Drew spent the whole night on the phone, then they went to watch the sunset to stop from falling asleep. I just thought it was really beasutiful, heartwarming and very funny!

I liked the memorial service. :-)

For anyone who has a parent they haven't fully appreciated...or a child whom they're worried might not understand them as a human being, this movie hits on so many parts of real life. The soundtrack is amazing. Everytime I watch it I laugh out loud and cry both. Paula Dean is hilarious, and Paul Schneider is so funny. I love the facial expressions of Orlando. Cameron Crowe is genious. I cannot understand people who do not get this movie. It touches the humor and the heartbreak of family and life. (By the way, I think Orlando's accent is fine and does not interfere with the movie!)

I thought it was a really nice film. Sentimental enough and reminiscent enough of past adventures that we all have. I mean in snapshots, not whole chunks.

I like the use of "last look" on peoples faces. Reminded me of all the people that I have met and will never see again.

It treads the very fine line between comedy and parady... and very well.

The most funny out and out belly laugh is when Holly gets trapped under the volvo bonnet... that made me laugh out loud.

I reminds me of that obsession before you know someone really intimately, very unusual for Hollywood to capture this properly. i.e. the making of the road trip book.

The characters were well cast, and the chemistry was good.

Like the scene where Orlando makes the mistake of saying California, then says @!*# we really are from Oregon.

That is the moment an outside becomes part of the team. I've had so many situations like that, where it takes a stupid unintentional comment to be accepted by a group of people I should really get on with well.

I also like the part where we reconnects to his dad in the trip home. I thought it was less a romance then a sort of self discovery....savior movie. It was OK....some parts of that memorial scene though...were great...Susan Sarandon tap dancing...priceless.

I have so many favorite parts, but the top few are the Freebird part (it's so funny in the midst of sadness, and also one of those freeing moments where you just realize you can't take life too seriously), the part when Bill Banyon goes, "Is there such thing as partial cremation?", and when the line, "And that's the decision from *beep* We really are from Oregon!"

reply

This is totally weird, but I like Drew's failed suicide attempt scene.

I also like the scenes where he spreads his father's ashes on the Mississippi River, the dinosaur park, the hotel and out the window while driving. And also when he talks to the urn and cries and laughs at the same time. That felt like a very relieving release, and in fact the only time when he truly cries.

The bird catching fire was great and drummer says keep playing, and they continue to enjoy their moment playing in the water.

I didn't really like this movie, I thought it took ages to get going and seemed very slow , yet I did very much like the Map tour she gave him in the car, and when his mum (sarandon) gave her funeral speech and won over his family, that was really nice to see it tie up like that.

i love it when drew went on his "road trip" at the end of the movie. that whole part was soo heart warming

I liked the scene when Drew drove into Elizabethtown and everyone, even those on the street, seemed to know who he was and why he was there, and a bunch of children directed him to the funeral home.

Basically, I liked the entire movie, but maybe that's because I identified with Drew's predicament; having all of this family at a distance from where he lived and grew up, and going there and being almost smothered by their love and the chaos and the history with Bill Banyon and the bad business deal.

I couldn't say my favorite part because I don't have one, or I'm too lazy to search my mind and find one, or I just liked every scene in the movie the same. Hmm...
