The Scenes Between Nancy and Andrew,Outside by the Pool/Bech....

Are RIDICULOUS!!! Why are they drawn/art directed/portrayed in that dumb style? There's no purpose to doing those graphics for their particular scenes.

Yes, I agree, they really distracted me. At first I thought they were only flashbacks, but other flashbacks were not that way. Anybody have a clue why they were done this way?

I thought maybe it was at first to show the innocence of childhood and their simple idealistic youth. But then it almost seemed in contrast to growth and reality, so primitive. As if to show Andrew was stuck forever in that memory, and how bizarre and overly childlike it was. He couldn't let go of that summer idyll, couldn't escape the primitive nature of it all and himself. It felt creepier each time.

I thought it was done that way to show how it looked to Andrew. His mental illness distorted reality and that is how it looked and felt to him.

I agree with watersandwild. I think it was to show that as children they were both kind of on the same page and that things were sort of magical. As Nancy grew out of that time, Andrew kept seeing things in that askew type of way. It didn't bother me, but I can see why it may not be someone else's cup of tea. I thought it was unusual and interesting though.

I got a question about one of those scenes...when she was playing around with him saying "do you like it, did you like it" after he was playfully trying to get her in the cold water did he...😌you know😝...or was that an expression of anger?
