deaf or what?

why did nancy eaton talk like she was deaf? she sounded like every deaf actress I ever heard (there's a few of them). was nancy eaton deaf? i could only watch a bit of this movie because it was so terrible, so I didnt see what the deal was.

She wore a hearing aid but wasn't totally deaf

Thank you. I was wondering why the actress sounded as she did. I knew there had to be a reason for it. She did not sound like she was playing someone who was deaf or even mostly deaf, though. Which is why I was so confused by the sound of the actress' voice, and the way she was talking. It sounded more like she was lisping.

Maybe I'm just used to people who sound like Marlee Matlin.

She was profoundly deaf, but learned to live with it and didn't let it interfere with her life.

It sounds like this movie was just beyond your grasp. But yes, she overcame difficulty.

If you didn't like the movie enough to even watch it then why bother coming onto imdb and asking questions about it? Lol

I can understand where the OP is coming from. The narrator is supposed to be her yet she spoke perfectly. The character spoke like she was partially deaf.

And I also agree with the OP that the movie was terrible. What was the deal with the shi7smearing kid Andrew? What is with this 'I am better than everyone' mother? And the father who treated his wife and daughter so poorly?

I had a hard time figuring out the direction of this movie.

Reading the paper can really be depressing. Mr. Dithers fired Dagwood again.
