I'm sorry, that was really *beep* of the father to just blow them off like that, but question...

how come the kids didn't know the father remarried?

How could he not see his kids in the window and then when Nick came up he didn't see Nick either as tall as he was. That was triflin of the father to have a wife already and a kid and not tell his two kids.

Was that woman their father's new wife? Wouldn't their mother have told them about that? That part kind of confused me.

I dont see what was so shocking.

I doubt if the dad was trying to be mean. I bet if they just simply knocked on the door, he would've let them in and introduced them to his new wife and their baby sister.

I think the mother was hiding it from them because she knew it would hurt them. She probably would have told them eventually when she thought they could handle it and understood she and the dad were not getting back together.
