captured Clayton Watson

I read about how they actually filmed Clayton just to capture the tiniest expressions in his face and the transitions. Plus some of his movements. The skateboard part is probably where maybe it went a little too exagerrated and off "character" of Clayton -- where the anime drawing excelled in abstract representation. The really enjoyable part is the fact all the characters are done (well protagonists) are all pencil sketched with no remorse for etching or stray lines. And it awes you because it somehow really brings to life the skin of the characters. The best was when Kid wakes in his dark room and goes to the computer. The eye, the hand, the way his head faced the monitor was really something. Plus they were able to capture in just a few scenes the fact he was the "looser" kid who resorted to the internet. Yet from us seeing him in the movies we feel he is a kind person willing to give everything (not to mention an innocent voice). Realizing he would commit suicide to find reality really throws that extra dimension to his character in the Matrix series. I do agree with whoever believes these little unexplained side plots detract from Reloaded which was already confusing to piece together. But I think once people watch Animatrix and connect they will immediately get a very different affected reaction with these sideplots which is not the same as being spoon-fed all at once. "Kid's Story" is not about plot but about a more fundemental message and grows on the reality surrealism play.

all the animatrix shorts are there to help explain the matrix universe in more depth, and work really well. not only that, they are a great example of anime and are a great starting point for getting the mass market into japanese culture and anime
