Help with the ending.

hey i was watching this and i didn't get to finish. Can anybody tell me what happens after he leaves to go on the Santiago trail???

My love for you is like this scar,(points at elbow) ugly, but permanent.

Nothing! It ends where he's at the foot of the trail, I suppose, and there is a voice-over quote. I think you should watch it again just for the quote. It may have been the most redeeming thing about the movie:

"The story of our life, in the end, is not our life, it is our story."

YEeaaaah, and about that quote at the end i saw the last like 5 mins of this movie today and hearing that quote made me wonder what the rest of the movie was like. But im still not sure if i understood the quote, i mean what does it mean?

We all live, we all have a life.
What's important is what we make of our lives, how we live it.
Like in a novel, the ending is important, but the story is what makes us remember the novel and the author.
