Maybe she was too far along for it to be legal. I believe you have to be around 20 weeks to tell the sex (which I think they did find it a boy, maybe not) and I don't think you can get an abortion that late unless something wrong is discovered with the baby.

Beyond that, the baby is still part of her. It is half her baby. Also it could give her something to live for and devote her life to. A reason not to give up.

Just a thought.

No, she didn't know the sex of the baby. On the phone she said, "he" and then she said "she, I don't know." I don't think it had been anywhere near 5 months (20 weeks) between when she got pregnant and when she found out the truth.

I think she didn't have an abortion because it would be too controversial, and would detract from where the movie was going. It was trying to end on a happy note, and an abortion hardly lends itself well to that.

I'm from a country where any kind of abortion is banned by law, and even I can tell that the fact of her keeping the baby is one of the creepiest things of this movie.

Ryan was the older brother. They mention it in the beginning, when Roman's done fixing the romantic lighting for them.

The real answer is because abortion is too taboo & it might turn off what twelve viewers this movie has.

You just can't dispose of it like it's trash, plus it's a part of her like someone else said.

It may be Roman's baby, but it's also hers, posts like the OP's show how superfificial people can get.

Uh.. I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you...It would be stupid to discuss whether its ethical or not, it's been done before and there is no actual real answer...but you cannot judge the people that do have abortions; no matter what your beliefs are...You have your own opinon respect the other people's opinions..

Edit: AnnConito has it totally right about the movie, btw!

Even if the baby wasn't her husbands, she thought it was for a long enough time to find out the gender. During that time, she grew to love it and want it. Finding out the baby wasn't really her husband's probably broke her heart, but didn't diminish the love she had for it.
