Capitol Records building symbolism?

What was the symbolism behind the director showing Owen staring at the Capitol Records building in several scenes in the movie?

i think its because its one of the biggest and well known land marks in LA that people recognize. besides that i have no clue

When you drive on the LA freeway, you see it! :) My friend and I are from LA and when we watched that scene, we got homesick.

i know its just a movie and i understand they wanted to show all the famous neon signs around la, but if you actually live here, you notice the geography is retarded. they're on the bus on sunset, suddenly on hollywood, suddenly back on sunset. or when hes walking home from the party, he walks from vine to melrose? it only works if you have no reference of the city at all. even then, its still cheesy. these locations aren't right next to each other.

well i just saw the movie and i know i'm really late haha but i think it has to do with the whole "it's right in front of you but you don't even realize it" kind of things. because at the end he chooses Allison who has been there the entire time. I think it just has something to do with noticing what's in front of you instead of trying to replace it with other crap.. or something?? i dunno, maybe i'm totally off.
