All The Drinking...

Okay, I know teenagers drink. I didn't, as a teenager, because my parents would have killed me. The desire to live is great in resisting peer pressure. But the underage drinking on this show was beyond wild. Maybe it really is that out of control in some place, and I know there are parents that will turn a blind eye, for a host of reasons. But this show? Brooke? Rachel? Most of the basketball team? Drinking like that would land them waiting for a liver transplant by the time they are 30 years old.

After Brooke slept with Christ "I was drunk..."

When it came out she had slept with Nathan (a *beep* storyline, designed to make Peyton a victim when she shouldn't have been) she told Lucas she was drunk at the time.

They all needed a damn AA meeting.

Yes drinking like that does happen, as you said you didnt drink as a teen so you were just never really around it. Granted not all teens drink like that, but I can remember there was drinking like that in HS. Broke probably drank more then most of them, but I really didn't think the drinking was as bad as you thought.

It seemed over the top. They were always at a party. And always drinking. I can understand beer and bad wine and maybe some harder stuff, but the next day, they would show bottles everywhere.

HS kids actually do go to parties, I dont find that unusual. Other then S1, I dont recall a ton of parties really. Also you have to remember that it wasnt sure the 5 main characters at the party so seeing bottles everywhere is not as much s you think. The parties we did see, there were alot of people there, so seeing bottles everywhere doesnt mean only the main cast drank.

I grew up in a small, middle of nowhere town, where people (HS people) partied every.damn.weekend. I'm not kidding. It's what they did. I didn't, because my parents would've killed me and I didn't want to put myself in a bad situation. So I became the D.D. for two nights a weekend. It happens.

I didn't find it unrealistic at all. Parties like this happen in high school, and you have to remember that people like Brooke, Rachel, and Nathan were the hot shot popular kids and big partiers, so that's why we see them at a lot of parties. We know that Brooke's parents in particular never gave a crap where she was, so why wouldn't she be at every party? I'm sure there were plenty of kids that didn't go to parties. It certainly didn't seem like Lucas or Haley had been to any before they started hanging out with that crowd.

And Nathan definitely had an advantage, his parents had an extra house and then his own apartment. High school kids jump on any empty house where there won't be parents around to drink.

I'm guessing you're American? You people make this stuff out to be way more of a big deal than it is. It comes of the stupid laws, I suppose. By the time you guys can legally buy booze drink, the novelty of being able to buy booze has worn off for your contemporaries in other countries.

I went to a Catholic high school and the drinking was INSANE. Parties almost every weekend, girls would bring a wine bottle size Smirnoff bottle and finish the whole thing between 2 or 3 of them. EVERYONE hooked up. We're all in our early 20s now and one has died from drinking and driving, and 2 others are in rehab. OTH was very true to life.

If you think One Tree Hill is bad, don't ever watch Skins. It would be too much.
