Skateboarding is not a crime...

reply

True.
Skateboarding is not a true crime!
It is a crime only because no one outside of the skateboarding community knows jack about them in the first place. They see parks as flatbeds of concrete with a few banks, pipes and rails thrown in to keep us happy. In effect, skaters go back outside the parks and skate in places that are more unique.

We really need better people working on building skateparks.

reply

Actually, skateboarding is a crime. Skating and vandalizing someone elses' property is a crime. Grinding rails and ledges that aren't your property is a crime. But just because it's a crime doesn't mean it's wrong. Just don't be a dick when someone kicks you out of a spot (unless they have it coming and the camera's rolling).

reply

INCORRECT
skateboarding on anywhere but a designated skateboarding facility is a criminal offense.

reply

I don't care what any of these idiots say. Skateboarding isn't going anywhere. It's a way of life. Personally, I think people should be more worried about the rapists and murderers out there. Now thats a crime.

reply

INCORRECT
You mean to say that if I were to ride a skateboard down a public stretch of road that it is a crime? Check your facts, a vast array of cities have nothing in their ordinances criminalizing skateboarding on public property.

the funniest thing i have EVER heard though was what my buddy told me. he said that one of his neighbours cant stand skating and actually did a burnout on the curb that had wax. i mean wtf was that guy thinking? the curb wasnt even near his house it was around the corner.

reply

i skateboard but im smarter than most of the other dumbass skaters i skate with. i agree, skateboarding is not a crime, but tresspassing is. sure i like to hit up a nice line, but if i get kicked off the property, im not gunna argue with the guy. hes just doing his job and all we're doing is vandalizing their property. how would you like it if people started skating through your house and boroke all of your stuff. and the whole FTP thing is stupid as well. we pay them to protect and serve this country from criminals and you bust their balls because you want to hit a nice 8 stair. i can understand if your black the whole FTP thing but if your white you have no reason to bitch.

reply

Not as smart as skateboarders who know that the word "I" is capitalized.

Oh, snap! Good one. you got him on his grammar on the message board. His whole argument means nothing now.

reply

whoa wait up. Whats the difference between black people and whites? Im white, and I hate cops. I know black people who are friends with them. Are we both out of place? I dont think so.

reply

Dude, you can hate A cop if he's a dick. But god, what a stupid thing to say. "I hate cops." probably one of the least intelligent phrases out there.

reply

Yeah some cops are pretty cool about it, they actually sometimes get pissed at the people who call them all the time, Im sure it gets annoying.
Skateboarders are amoung one of the most styreotyped groups around these days.
Just try not to be asses to re-enforce that styreotype.
All we ever damage is rails and ledges and its not our intent to damage, we just want the trick.
But if your skating gaps, pads, or stairs your not hurting a thing and it makes me mad when people get so pissed about it.

another thing is sometimes(where I live) you cant even skate at some public parks! Thats bs, Im sorry. And the stupid thing is I was skating there and there are kids all over the park with bikes, blades and scooters and a cop yells at me to get out on his megaphone thing.

The main problem is that stupid ass liability *beep* that says we will sue them if we get hurt, another somewhat styreotype, Ive been skating for more than six years and Ive been seriously hurt very few times. Plus I would never sue them, I know its my fault.

Do you guys have the same views, or deal with the same *beep*

reply

yea i agree, if i am grinding your ledge and its tearing it up thats one thing. Thats vandilism even if its all in fun it still is distructing your property. but i hate to be kicked out of stair sets or ledges or manny pads where i am doing nothing wrong but be there. I have people tell me to leave a stair set near there building because it detracted from their buisness. And as a store owner I can see why they would want us to leave, but as a society i don't see why skateboarders 20 feet from a store should take away from buisness. People see the skateboard and think were going to be high and try to rob them its ridiculous.
And about police, i dont mind regular cops, its secuirty gaurds and park police I hate. Most times the regular police are called on me they show up, tell me how they think skating is actually pretty cool and they get pissed off when people call them to deal with us because were not hurting anyone. IT seems like secuirty gaurds on the other hand have some sort of infiriority complex where they feel its neccisary to be a dick. and park police, atleast in DC, are just way over aggresive and will tackle skaters and take there boards.
