Blues Campbell's Right Hand 2

reply

Wasn't that Bruce Campbell? Makes a lot more sense imo. x_x

edit: Nevermind. It's called 'Blues Campbell' indeed. Sounds lame. Sounds like the director didn't know what his props were referring to :P

reply

sorry, haven't seen the movie yet, but it would make sense to me if that were a play on the japanese having a hard time pronouncing R's and L's, and that they often switch the two.

reply

I think that's exactly right. The film references several famous American horror movies (and cast/crew members), so that makes perfect sense.

"To be loved you have to be nice to people every day, but to be hated you don't have to do squat."

reply

Actually, the chainsaws have 'Blues Campbell' written all over it, which has nothing to do with the pronunciation. It's just dead wrong.

-"Wow, what a speech! Half Moses, half Mickey Mouse!"-

reply

The Japanese don't confuse their R's with L's, they replace L's with R's because their language has no L sound. However, the Japanese always roll their R's. To many English-speaking people a rolled R sounds like an L and this causes confusion.

reply

I disagree. Since Japanese has only one r/l-like sound, Japanese speakers have difficulty hearing either and often make mistakes BOTH WAYS when writing out English words. Either way I would be surprised that since they found out how to spell "Campbell" correctly that "Blues" is a mistake. I find it more likely that they chose to do an homage without actually using Bruce Campbell's name.

reply

I don't know, I think it's equally likely that they were trying to use proper English, but confused "Bruce" with "Blues" because of the Japanese pronunciation ("Burusu" or something like that), but maybe "Campbell" might be harder to mix up with another name/word (I can't even imagine how Japanese would deal with "Campbell").

reply

That'd be Campuberru or something. Like Kill Bill became Kiru Biru.

reply

Whatever the cause for the twisted Bruce malapropism, I thought it was pretty funny.

reply

Campbell Soup has a place in American pop culture, and they like American pop culture.

To the devil with me? Not for some considerable time, I trust.

i have a snes game called "death brade" on the official emblem.

i am a zombie

"this is just my opinion, but that's all that matters to me...
... I love lamp."

reply

To finally lay this to rest, The chainsaws say "Blues Campbell's Right Hand 2" as an homage to Bruce, but also as a play on poor japanese pronuntiation. It's really that simple. I thought it was even more hilarious than correctly spelling "Bruce". It was intentional, and that's easy to see.

reply

In the subs on my copy it clearly says Bruce and not Blues.

Hmmmm.

go to www.myspace.com/zombieomg and donate £1 or $2 to independant horror.

reply
