Also, can't believe this garbage is on bluray.

And many classic films are not. Fanboys have true power.

reply

You don;t have to buy it

reply

At least this classic is available in glorious HD. We can be thankful for that.

reply

Not a classic at all but garbage only fanboys like. I saw a video about screenings online and it's only fat ass neckbeards that like this.

reply

Glancing at one clip sounds good enough to overgeneralize a fanbase. That aside, it's a testament to this great art that it has fueled your passions enough to express your feelings online. Thank you for being such a unique individual, and may The Room forever guide your life.

reply

It has a cult following and was distributed independently in the US only, Paramount is releasing Transformers in all territories and in 4K.

I would rather have The Room in 4K, because it has actual entertainment value.

reply

Cannot wait to see Lisa's beautiful nipples in high dynamic range color.

reply

And what is that entertainment value? Fanboys have appropriated cult and camp, which for decades have pertained to the gay community and straight people that understand the artistic value of films too flamboyant for the mainstream, and have applied them to crap with no redeeming qualities like Manos The Hands Of Fate. The Room is in that category, it offers no entertainment or art of any kind. There's a video on youtube explaining how this phenomena is like a society in itself and how the person that knows the most about it holds prominence and so on, I mean it's quite pathetic. I wish they didn't use camp and cult terms to describe it because a cult movie has a fan base not because it's bad, but because it's actually good.

reply

To be honest I don't really buy into the whole 'so bad it's good' angle. Troll 2 or The Garbage Pail Kids for instance don't appeal to me at all, but there's something about The Room that does. Probably because the director and star is an intriguing character who had intentions of making something the complete polar-opposite of its reputation. It's innocent and kind of endearing.

You say cult films have a fanbase because they're good is purely opinion based, you could argue (perceived to be) bad films earn cult status because their audience is niche, which could also mean everyone outside that niche thinks they're bad. Just because something has a following doesn't mean its good. But the idea of a cult film has evolved so much over the years its meaning has been confused, to me obscure independent films mainly horror from the 60's, 70's and 80's are cult films. I wouldn't consider a mainstream Hollywood film that tanked at the BO to be a cult film.

reply

Why not? And what could possibly be endearing about that freak? All of it is embarrassing.

reply

Something pre-internet era like Suspiria or Black Sunday fit the definition of cult film more to me because they were relatively obscure and didn't get much acclaim but years after release went on to be highly regarded. The Room is similar in that regard except people enjoy it ironically I suppose. Love it or loathe it think of it this way, it's from a better time. What I'm trying to say is that it's not damaging, it's strange but innocent. I don't know how you can hate it so strongly, it's not trying to push an agenda or brainwash anyone.

reply

it's from a better time?

reply

2000-2010, life was better until the social media takeover. Probably just me, it's all relative really.

reply

life was but there's no way The Room is in any way better produced than the garbage on cinemas today.

reply

I'm sure many enjoy the irony of having such an ugly turd on a bleeding edge format.
