Theory about Johnny (spoilers!)

I expect most of you remember strong scene on roof, when Johnny (unaware he is not alone) speaks his mind about him hitting Lisa. First few times I watched movie, I was convinced that he really did not Lisa, but here are some points that show possiblity him actually hitting Lisa! Some of them exclude another ones.

1) He was drunk. As person who doesn't drink, it is possible he really does not remember doing this. Also, alcohol affect people differet way.

2) He laughed at story about girl in hospital. It shows that he could actually enjoy it, but only could do it when drunk.

3) His monologue on roof might have been prepared. So, maybe he saw Mark being there and still said all of it, only to defend himself more easily when people find out from Lisa.

4) He showed signs of madness. "You are tearing me apart" "Why Lisa why" etc, he showed that sometimes anger is strong with him.

Does this change your point of view when watching movie?

Well it's hard to think you think it'll change anyone's point of view when it's obvious none of that was intended. It was intended that Johnny was the nicest, best, most perfect dude ever and everyone was just so mean to him.

1) Not really. It doesn't make people violent if they weren't already violent. There's no reason even if he were drunk to want to hit her at this point and we don't see it or her reaction shot unless you think it was an artsy move to make it ambiguous, but no.

2) well he wasn't drunk when he heard the story

3) If there was any chance of that, he would have said it straight to Mark, not to himself, then notice Mark, then say he doesn't want to talk about it. If he wanted to defend himself, he would have wanted to talk about it if he intentionally brought it up.

4) Signs of madness? What? Are you saying he has a mental illness? Because he's angry? Which mental illness? Because he's angry during scenes anyone would be angry, i.e. when being falsely accused of domestic abuse? Tommy clearly doesn't understand any psychology concepts but neither do you.

Obviously Johnny is perfect and Lisa is evil and a liar. Sometimes it's fun to make up outlandish theories about this show, but we all know there was no deeper level intent than one was directly and often repeatedly said.
