Wiseau's money

One source of mystery surrounding Tommy Wiseau is how he came to be so wealthy. In The Disaster Artist, Greg Sestero stated that at some point Tommy was in a near fatal car crash. I'm thinking that accident may be responsible for both his unique demeanor and his vast fortune.
It's possible the accident caused severe head trauma that altered his personality and/or made it very difficult for him to remember things (such as lines or important plot points). It's also very possible that the accident resulted in him receiving a large personal injury award. I find it hard to believe he made that much money selling imported jackets or bird toys and think his accident may actually explain a lot.

I think you are partly correct, but I also think that there are other clues in that book that allude to explanations as well. The 'producers' on the movie that nobody met sound very much 5o me like wealthy old mentors that likely helped Wiseau out financially and in career guidance. My guess is that the way he went from selling little toys at Fisherman's Wharf to owning a significant wealth in commercial real estate is that one or both of them took a liking to him and started him out with his first properties as a gift or something. It was that 'producer' who advised him to follow his dream and become an actor after he already had amassed some wealth, and my guess is that 'producer' was there to keep him financially sound as he chased his absurd dream.

What personal injury award could possibly be that much money?

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.

I think you might be partially right. Maybe Wiseau got an injury reward and used that money to fund his future business ventures. It's just highly doubtful that he got an 8 figure injury settlement/reward from a car accident.
