This was a truly remarkable film that would've been a sure Oscar contender had things gone right. I saw this at the Film Forum in New York and it was just wonderful. Went without a hitch. How this film was never released nationally is beyond me; most likely a lack of taste from the powers that be. Congratulations, Mr. Turturro on a job well done! Yes, I thought so too - it was a great film. All the cast was so great - the story was funny.
Well, it should have gotten more attention. I assume studios where afraid of the sexual content in the film - they always are. Studio prefer to make films they can sell to younger audiences. Hollywood is a cruel world -I work in film and many great movie don't get the attention they should deserve.
But thanks god for DVD and internet distribution and film festival we get to see more and more great art house films as these.
I think you'll find you are in an extreme minority. It is little wonder John Turturro has not directed a film since this. It was quite mediocre. Stick to the acting John.
