Were Constance and/or Rosebud supposed to be 'slow'?

Is it just me or did Constance and Rosebud seem to act mentally disabled? They seemed to behave like 13-year-old girls not grown women. I just don't get it

None of the characters felt like real human beings to me. It felt like the movie was trying so hard to be "offbeat" that it leaned into just plain silly territory.

I simply am not there...

They're women in their 40's acting like teenagers, being directed by a novice. It's like a blind man trying to teach an elephant to roller skate. It's just not gonna be pretty.
