New to anime.
Would someone who's only seen a few animes before be able to enjoy this? I hear this parodies many animes, but is it necessary to see these other animes before this or will any anime newbie be able to jump in and enjoy it?

shareNope. It's just an added bonus if you know some of the animes. But you'll still get its sick sense of humor.
I havent seen alot of the anime they spoof and i still got some of the jokes. Like the hidden Dragon balls... and i hate that show.
Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, DBZ ( I agree on that spongebob! ), Transformers (well I thought so, when Alien One's robot arrived) and Leiji Matsumoto's work were all lampooned. Gotta love that opening sequence with Puni Puni beating up Sailor Moon and the Magical Girls! Also, that Mage Queen sort of reminded me of Queen Emeraldas or Stella from Interstella 5555(which is why I said Leiji Matsumoto).
There were some other hidden gags about the actual VA's themselves like Kotono Mitsuishi making her appearence at the end (she's the girl that played Excel and Sailor Moon in Japanese as well as some other roles)and telling Puni Puni/Kobayashi that she's got a long way to go to surpass her talent. Very funny. *lol*
Oh, you go on about all the well-known anime shows that were parodied but you don't bother to mention the hentai.
shareBelieve it or not, there are quite a few us out here who can't name the hentei films that were parodied here because we don't actually watch hentei.
I got the tentacle reference in the second part, but I can't actually name you any of the other hentei films parodied, and I be that half of Anime fans couldn't do much better.
English Language Anime: Dub it, don't pervert it.
