Almost-Nuclear War incident?

Haven't seen the film, but I've attended at least a dozen of his lectures and know what he was most likely referring to: The closest the world has come to all-out nuclear war was in October, 1962 during the so-called Cuban Missile Crisis. It was a single Russian officer that refused to launch the missile that would most likely have led to events that would have left much of the Northern hemisphere uninhabitable.

There have been other incredibly dangerous incidents since that time. At one point, a flock of geese set off the Russian early warning system and they thought they were under nuclear attack.
