I looove Hannibal, Gaspard Ulliel is so hott. This movie was so interesting!

This movie was shockingly bad - pure anti German propaganda. I feel ashamed to have sat through the whole film. Gaspards accent was ridiculous, as well as the plot. Im a fan of the Hannibal films but this one is a joke. I think you only enjoyed it because the actor playing Hannibal was handsome... it diverted your attention from the actual happenings of the film. lol. definitely lost some IQ points watching this film.
share...and you would be the exact type that would like this movie. Those who have not seen any other movie featuring Hannibal Lecter. To those who really appreciated Manhunter and The Silence of the Lambs... this movie was a deep, deep insult. I almost gagged when I saw him put on the mask that resembled the mask that the mental asylum put on him in The Silence of the Lambs... it's almost like the writer of this script didn't actually see the movie he just heard some things and saw some famous pictures.
Really... I am sure this movie is decent if you never saw the any other Hannibal Lecter film but it was just too hard for me to look past the horrible attempts at homage this movie made.
hey slymaelstrom..the author of the book also made the screenplay! and yes he put it in there, him or hollywood or whoever put it in there. and despite that i still liked it b/c you have to take into account that novels have a hard time translating into films, especially when you have to take into account what type of audience that reads books and what type of audience watches films.
it sort of pissed me off that it was there. but over all the film actually had a depth in what type of person hannibal came to be and why. and i loved the previous four and put this one up with them.
If this movie had been stand alone, I would have enjoyed it more. If it were about some random person... not Hannibal Lecter. I cannot imagine THIS Hannibal growing up into the Hannibal from SOTL. I can't fathom it, not even for a moment. I liked the mystery of why Hannibal turned out to become what he was. I wouldn't have ever put this story behind him. As "hott" as people seem to find Gaspard Ulliel, there is NOTHING quite as amazing as Anthony Hopkins in the role. I chalk the OP's enjoyment of the movie up to immaturity and a fascination with bright shiny objects. For those of us who were infatuated with SOTL Hannibal, I don't think many would agree that this line of events make any sense.

This film is closer to being the worst movie ever than best movie ever.
In fact i think its one of the 100 worst movies i've ever seen.
It was the first time in years that i just couldn't watch the whole film from the beggining to the end and switched channel after 30 mins.
