We see young Hannibal wearing the mask from 'Silence of the Lambs' in this film, which was a nice nod - until I started wondering why he had it. Surely the 'Silence' mask was supplied by the prison in order to prevent him biting anyone when he was transported to see the Senator, so why would young Hannibal have it thirty years earlier?

Did I miss something?

That was a different mask; it was part of the Samurai armor.

Completely different mask. It was the face piece of the Samurai amour
