Worth Watching

I really liked the American Grudge, but hate the american Grudge2. It was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. So is seeing this japanese sequel worth watching?

The movie language is more mature and fluent than ju-on: the grudge 1.

The American version of The Grudge 2 was all the stuff they left out of Ju-on the Grudge 1 plus some. Ju-on the Grudge 2 is completely new and different and well worth watching.

I've watched the RINGS and GRUDGES, as well as a handful of J-Horror movies like ONE MISSED CALL and PULSE and RINNE . . . I can tell you, JU-ON: GRUDGE 2 is the first of the original JU-ON films I've seen, and I liked it much better than I expected. I honestly liked it better than any of the other J-Horror films I've seen so far (most of which I have found surprisingly lacking). And I thought it was far and away better than the AMERICAN GRUDGE 2 (one of the worst movies I've ever seen).

JU-ON: GRUDGE 2 reminded me more of the first AMERICAN GRUDGE - it is told in a series of vignettes, each of which opens with the name of the character that's about to get grudged, and each of which connects to the larger story. And it's very creepy! The scene where the editor watches the videotaped footage is one of the creepiest moments of the series so far!

It had a few dopey moments (like the ghost coming out of the carpet), but all-in-all, it maintained the creepiness of AMERICAN GRUDGE 1 without the stupid "the ghost can pop out of anything" approach of AMERICAN GRUDGE 2.
