Great movie, but the ending could be completely rewritten!

This film had some marvelously freaky moments, but the ending left so much to be desired. Anyone else agree?

I liked the ending, little Kayako pushing her mom down the stairs and stomping off to make her way in the new world with her old journal in her hand. One wonders what trouble she'll be spreading as she grows...

I wasn't too thrilled with the 'baby bundle' they used in replace of a new born baby, but that's a minor point.

reply

I still disagree, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. What was WITH that bundle at the end? It was a *beeping* paper sack! Who gives birth to a paper sack?

I think, therefore I am a grapefruit.

reply

Yeah, it just looked like a childs toy robot wrapped in a some cloth. Worst bit in the movie as I don't believe that it's a baby in that bundle at all. A bloodied fake baby (like those real looking ones used for child care classes), creative camera angles, and fleeting glimpses of the baby would have worked far better.

The bundle is too cheaply done and calls attention to itself.

reply

Lol, honestly I didn't think it was a baby until I realized that it really was supposed to be a baby (after the scene was over). I thought it was the kid's head again as we had seen previously with Chiharu. Just goes to show it wasn't done that well. We shouldn't have doubted whether or not it was real.

Much love and BIG KISSES,
Steph

In fairness, I think it could have finished with the filmmaker's scream after Kayako crawls out of the womb. The rest of the end doesn't feel quite so impressive, which is a shame, because the scene in the OR is one of the most terrifying things I've seen in a film...

Have a nice day :)

I like, for some motive with no reason, call that girl of Akira Saeki(I donĀ“t know why, I alredy see a lot of japanese with the name of Akira.Maybe she will come back in the Ju on 3.

I agree Silickles. I didn't think it was real either, until I saw the mother and child walking across the bridge. The ending of the OR scene left a lot to be desired.
