Not bad, but not great

Ok...just saw this short today. Where do I begin? Well, nice to see that it was shot on 16mm. If this had been shot on video I don't think I would have sat through it. For those of you looking for a really shocking experience, this is really more in the silly Troma school of filmmaking, where the villains make funny faces and everyone's pretty much a cartoon character. There's one scene which I think is meant to be the most shocking moment, but really it's like something out of "Fear Factor". If you've seen that show, nothing here really packs as much a punch as it could have if it had come out a decade or so ago.
Just when it starts to get interesting, the movie abruptly ends. It feels like the first or last act of a full-length movie, not a self-contained short film. I think the actress who played Diamond may have a future, but this thing ain't gonna win a bunch of awards any time soon. For the eleven dollars I paid, this was worth it...these guys should send this to Troma and see if Lloyd Kaufman would put up the money to extend this to feature length...if it delivered on the gore and sleaze it would be worth it. I'm not sure if they were going for something truly shocking, it seems like they were leaning toward comedy--which is why I mentioned Troma. Not bad overall.
