Am I the only one who thinks this movie is racist?Espeieielly(srry i spelled this worng) the part where he took the Russian girl on a date. That is not what a Russian accent sounds like.I know because my parents and many people i know are Russian and thier accents sound nothing like this.Plus what was that whole thing about when the russian gilr said "my mother worked in a nuclear power plant when she was pregnant with me".It's just saying that Russians are obbssed with war.what do you think?
No, it's more like there actually was a nuclear meltdown in Chernobyl, the place she mentioned her mother was from, it's not something they made up for the movie.
Don't be concerned, masha. This movie is just stupid. They squeezed everything for a joke. But no one laughed. (Probably except the political joke at the start of the movie ). I always expected Rob Schneider could do better.
no, chernobyl has never been russian. ukrainian or soviet, but never russian. russia and ukraine were different states, or soviets, just like f. ex california and texas are different states in the us
To ruy... Well, heheh, they don't have to be funny. It's their jokes that are required to be funny. I always laugh with Seinfeld jokes but when in interviews he's not funny at all. Adam Sandler hardly makes me laugh (10%). Woody Allen is no joke, just humour, I don't think his movies are funny.
Whatever. It's called freedom of speech and expression. Why don't we just ban every movie that might offend someone? Then we can watch no movies at all.
You think it's racist? Thats pathetic....It's a film, so what if its racist, it's a joke...
Secondly, learn your stuff before you go on a rant about them thinking Russians are obsessed with war....you *beep* idiot, Chernobyl was a massive nuclear meltdown.
Some people are so dumb and paranoid its almost creepy.
Very racist - they act as if the Dutch treat everyone the same, but if you go there, and your skin is not lily-white - you're treated quite badly. The Dutch, as they say in the film, started the modern-day slave-trade, and consider themselves not only the perfect race, but even the more perfect among the so-called "white" races...
He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. -Neitsche
now now, there are indeed quite a lot of messed up people in Holland, but it's the small minority that yells the loudest. The same in Belgium, the same in Germany, the same in Poland, and hey, also the same in Russia. You hear of gay-parades being attacked so often you start thinking all russians are gaybashers (which is not the case of course).
Besides that, you're implying that all the dutch are like that. Generalization is the firs step to racism...
You might want to spell the name "Nietzsche" correctly. I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm trying to save you from endless criticism from posters who will discredit your comments because you spelled Nietzsche wrong.
You obviously dont have a clue aboout the Dutch, if you think dutch people are racist, I guess you are overlooking the fact that a large part of them are 'coloured' people. much more so than in many other countries. There is a small percentage of Dutch people who are racist. We doint think we are the more perfect of the white races. For, as you may know, there is only one white race. The white people are just a part of the human race and not superior at all. And I dont know where you get this idea of the dutch starting the modern day slave trade...'modern'slave-trade was actually begun by the portuguese who bought their African slaves from Muslims. Dutch slave trade was only a small percentage of slavetrade worldwide. Not that the dutch havent done bad stuff, but puhleez just get ya facts right, matey!
Very foolish post, if you ask me.
And its 'NIEtzsche' by the way. "Consciousness turns moments into palpable components of the Unity that is (in) everything"
You are very wrong there , matey. I happen to know quite a lot about Americans and America. And dont be a fool; I never label or vilify wantonly. You just feel offended by my more poignant remarks. Seems they do hit their marks then. If they would be totally unjustified, you wouldnt bother responding... It's as simple as that.
"Consciousness turns moments into palpable components of the Unity that is (in) everything"
You most certainly are "labeling" and "wantonly vilifying" when writing:
american middle-class morals are sick. A repressed, illogical and totally unconscious way of life that breeds psychosis, america is forcing an illogical religion on its people that causes the highest crime rate, constant foreign wars, highest murder rate in the world, rapes abound in the priesthood, corporate control of the media, the streets flooded with government-distributed hard-drugs.
It also displays your profound ignorance of the U.S..
Concerning your reply, "You just feel offended by my more poignant remarks. Seems they do hit their marks then. If they would be totally unjustified, you wouldnt bother responding... It's as simple as that."
If you call someone a son of a bi_ch, they will likely respond angrily but that doesn't mean they think their mother is actually a dog.
Again, I am just calling things by their true names...I certainly know quite a lot about the U.S. The problem is, most americans are too tied up in this dumbed down way of Life, that they cannot have a clear, unbiased view of it...the average american knows only what he/she has been told by the propagandist media... The dogmatic repetition of slogans on television doesnt give a realistic view of things as they really are...
I know most americans find it difficult to critically assess their government and their 'culture', which is exactly why the truth needs to be told, by an outsider who has experienced the reality of day to day life in the U.S.A.
My labeling and vilifying was totally intended, reasoned and not wanton at all...
"Consciousness turns moments into palpable components of the Unity that is (in) everything"
No, you don't. If you think just because you spend some time in another country makes you knowledgeable about all of its citizens and social complexities you are sadly mistaken.
"I know most americans find it difficult to critically assess their government and their 'culture',..."
Wow, you are so wrong on this one. This statement proves you don't know as much as you think you do about Americans. Another poster said, "generalization is the first step to racism". Sounds like what you are doing.
