Would you people still like this movie as much...

if the hero-villian were male-female, or vice-versa, rather than both females?

I suspect that some only say they like this movie so that they aren't called "homophobic".

Yes I would still like it. I like campy movies like this regardless of the characters genders.

And people don't say they like because they don't want to be called homophobic. You're being ridiculous. They like it because it's a fun movie, with a very cute romance. It happens to also make it better for the LGBT community because it's something that has never been made before, a spy spoof rom-com about girls. But I know straight people who are fans of this movie.

I'm a straight girl and I LOVE this movie. It's campy and cute and the spy stuff is silly and over the top. The love story is sweet.. That's what I like about it. It's sweet and simple.

Are there that many straight people even aware of this film? Sorry but the target audience is the LGBT community. I love this movie and would if it were a straight couple as well. However, I really can't think of any super campy movies like this with straight couples off the top of my head. A lot of the campy films I've seen are usually LGBT films of some sort. Although Hairspray? I really enjoy both versions of that. I think the first definitely falls into the camp category. The second does too in some respects.

I also love the movie Romy and Michele's High School Reunion. It's one of my favorite movies and it's not an LGBT film. It's not exactly campy like this movie, but it is a weird, offbeat humor. So I am pretty sure DEBS could be a film with a straight couple and I'd still laugh really hard at it. Plus I don't get annoyed by the Janet/Scud aspect of the film. I actually love their pairing as much as Lucy/Amy so yeah, I don't think a male/female main couple would change my opinion.

Also, you have to know this movie is meant to be taken lightly. If you aren't into campy stuff then I can see not liking it, and I wouldn't call someone homophobic for it. Now if this movie was campy and not aware of it and took itself seriously, then I might dislike it. However, this film laughs at itself and isn't meant to be serious so as a campy film I think it's really good. And I don't know why someone would be called homophobic for disliking this film unless they explicitly said they hated the fact that it was a lesbian main couple.

It's campy, it's fun, it's cute...

and it has a great group of hot chicks in it.

I'm a straight guy from Australia so if it's suppose to be offensive - I'm one of the people that should have an issue with it, and I certainly don't.

Straight man and I am watching it right now for at least the tenth time, because I love campy movies regardless of the target audience and the sexual preference of the characters.

I honestly don't know. Part of the appeal of this movie is definitely the lesbian theme.
