The Movie ISN'T Bad. I'll tell you why.

Ok, everyone is way out of context here when they judge this movie as BAD and "hours I'll never get back" etc.

First of all, this movie is obviously not meant to be on par with the original classic. It isn't the movie that is bad, more so than it is our standards and expectations that have risen.

Many of the so-called crappy movies of today would probably have been classics and blockbusters of 20+ years ago. Conversely, many of the classics of 20 years ago, if they had been released today, would be a bust and thrown in your so-called crappy movie, wasted my life away, category.

Now this being said, there is no replacement for great storytelling/scripts, but for the most part, I'd like you to think about how much more it is our own standards and expectations that have changed that leads us to these conclusions.

Also remember, you're comparing great movies you saw as a child (usually everything is great from a child's perspective), to movies you are now seeing as an adult. Think about how much that can affect your perspective on things.

When I watched this movie along with many other similar low budget films, I'm not expecting anything great. That's why I actually found it fun.

For a straight to tv/dvd sequel this movie is quite entertaining. Obviously not a classic like most of the other Vacation movies. I wish people would cut it some slack and enjoy this spin off for what it is. To see Randy Quaid and Eric Idle back is a joy in itself.

1st time.. I thought it was crap..

2nd time.. not that bad..

3rd time.. better than alot of stuff nowadays..

Boy did i want to smack his son around..

So now its just part of my Xmas list of movies..

I'll test your theory, as I watched it once and thought it stank to high heaven. I only gave it 2 stars I dead of one because I chuckled one time in this whole movie. But we'll see if you're right.. I personally gave Monty Pythons Holy Grail 1 star when I first saw it, then couldn't beleive I rated it so low the second time I saw it.

No dude this is a poorly made film. It's bad and there's a reason why it's rated so low and most people hate it and you are making it much more complicated than it really is. Good and bad films have existed since the dawn of the art, people standards for high quality has been around for a long time (Gone With the Wind, Citizen Kane). Production values have increased but quality writing and acting and all that stuff has always been around. NLCV2 is a bad, bad, piss poor film, doesn't get more simple than that. Your attempt to justify its badness is retarded, that's like saying The Room isn't a bad film and it's actually the viewer's fault that it's percieved bad.

I finally just watched this after hearing so much bad about it. Ya it's no masterpiece obviously, and I'm sure it wasn't even intended to be. Despite the terrible CGI effects on the boat which were so laughably horrible, and that early scene in the bathroom which was sorta cringy, it was a fun watch.
