The chocolate river room was badly redesigned

It is so dark and unattractive to look at. In the original film, everything was more colorful and bright. That is an overall problem that I have with this movie, the entire chocolate factory is not easy on the eyes. The scenes before were more visually appealing. I will say, though, that they redesigned the chocolate river well. It actually looks like melted milk chocolate. In the original, the river is made fun of for looking like diarrhea. The cast even say that it was not chocolate. It was just dyed water.

I actually preferred the chocolate room to the original. Way more colorful, and it was actual edible candy in that room.

The exterior of the factory is suppose to look dark and intimidating to further show Wonka as being mysterious and drawn back.

well the choc room in the burton film is far more colourful than the original, but remember this IS a factory, some of it will be unattractive. The original film made the factory look like a fun house.

Maybe it didn’t look as appealing to the OP, but it did look more authentic. That’s what Burton was going for.
