Raiders of the lost ark reference bothered me

the one when Woody tells Sofia where it doesn't hurt so that she would kiss him there. I half expected her to say "C'mon man, you really think I haven't seen Raiders?"
Or, are the filmmakers assuming that noone would get where they stole the scene from?

PS "Jaws" reference WAS quite funny, with Pierce and Woody singing "Show me the way to go home"

I agree. The part where Woody ripped off "Raiders of the Lost Ark" disgusted me. It made me drop my rating from a 6 down to about a 3, but then Salma Hayek's chest made me bump my rating back up to a 5, which is where it stayed.

"Who cares where he took the line from?"

Film fans. Fans of movies. People who like movies. That's who cares!!!

Don't you like movies? Don't you care if dialogue and humor is original or plagiarized? I care.

yeah... and if it's an homage, it at least has to be tasteful. that was just a lame rip-off...

this was as bad as the "no ticket" scene in dogma. I agree, there is homage, and thee is blatant rip off, ala the two films in question here.

I adore simple pleasures, they are the last refuge of the complex.

Lawrence Kasden wrote Raiders of the Lost Ark and included the "it doesn't hurt here" kiss scene that he had actually written for an earlier Kasden penned film: Continental Divide. Yep! John Belushi pulls the same stunt on Blair Brown after he is attacked by the mountain lion. Both movies were released in 1981...but Kasden's Continental Divide script was first.

My wife reacts the same way you did to After the Sunset whenever she sees the "kiss me here" scene in Raiders: "Rip-Off!"

He doesn't say "it doesn't hurt" does he? He was making up more place where it supposedly DID hurt. That's a pretty normal thing to do...

Ratner apparently ripped-off Duel as well. So that's three Spielberg films that he "borrowed" from.

That's been done so many times...
