Salma Hayek ???

Is it just me or Salma Hayek is a terrible actress? I havent seen many films with her but in this one she was invisible and done nothing to this film.

reply

She's not invisible, that's her next to Woody Harrelson in the bikini....she's not a terrible actress, she's very successful and has played a wide variety of roles....and she's absolutely gorgeous.

It's you.

I think it's you too.

Agreed its you

You base the quality of someones entire career on one single movie?
Wow, you definately make a convincing argument there, pal.

Oh and just for the record, which movie are you talking about anyway?

Oh, I'm sorry, did I hurt your feelings? Were you expecting a pat on the back for spouting nonsense on this particular topic?

Listen, genius (is that better?), unlike yourself apparently, I'm not looking for "pals" on the IMDb boards. I'm here to give my opinion on everything related to movies (whether you like it or not), just like most people on these boards. Sorry to see that you're so overly sensitive, to my way of expressing, that it makes you feel like an idiot.

However, since you couldn't simply refute my (movie related) argument, I'm going to assume you aren't the brightest person on here either.

Have a nice day.

Salma Hayek is an established and talented actress, you may not like her but that doesn't mean she's no good.

I thought "Fools Rush In" was a great movie and a large part of that was Salma Hayek's acting! She had probably the toughest job of all the actors because of the many roles she had to play: young single HOT woman in a rockin' bar, young woman that found out she was PG and because of her culture and religion did not have the ability to choose (and even if she was not so put upon, probably still would have followed through with it), a smart woman who also needed to assert herself to family and "friends" about decisions she made and was making, and many other aspects of a multi-dimensional character and she pulled it off brilliantly IMHO.

I liked that movie so much I painted the interior of my house with the exact colors she used and it looks great! I get a lot of complements and it's conversation starter for the ladies... no wonder I still like that movie... and Ms. Hayek is one of my favorite actors

I've seen a number of Salma's movies and, in my opinion, she's usually quite good. In fact, I was a bit surprised that at this stage of her career she took a role in this film that basically amounts to eye candy. Her delivery seems a bit wooden here, too, but I haven't found that to be the case in other roles.

It is you, look again Salma is never invisible, as long as you have full vision.

reply

You are correct, Salma is shocking as an actress.
Let's be honest she isn't good looking, very androgenous and if it wasn't for her "rack" then she wouldn't get any roles at all.
Watch in a few years time when her upper torso has aged and she is no longer getting the lucrative bosom endorsement roles - she will disappear.
Wonder if she will complain like a lot of women do when their looks go.

personally i think she's got a good screen presence if you ask me. this is my overall favorite role of her's to and maybe even my favorite movie she appeared in as it's either this or Desperado (1995) but i think she's at her all around best in this movie.

at the end of the day... After the Sunset(2004)/Desperado(1995) are the movies ill remember her for as they are the only movies in her filmography that i think are memorable even though i do like some of the other movies she's appeared in.

I can't remember seeing her in any other film before watching "After The Sunset". I feel it's harsh to judge her on this film as I don't think her character is well-written. I don't believe it's an exaggeration to suggest the majority of her scenes involved a stage of foreplay with Pierce Brosnan.
